POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises a team of metal fabricators that consists of cut shop and weld shop personnel. Oversees the welding and fabrication of various aluminum-framed open and enclosed trailers. Assures a good daily plan for meeting productivity goals without compromising safety or quality. Duties include performance management, employee relations, scheduling and assigning work and ensuring adherence to quality standards and workplace policies.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees and supervises a group of approximately 30 metal fabricators while constructing various open and enclosed aluminum trailers.
• Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
• Oversees the employee schedule to ensure adequate labor is available to meet production targets. Maintains the labor rate within the established range and seeks to improve efficiencies.
• Manages the performance of direct reports by setting expectations and goals; ensures that employees promptly receive positive and constructive feedback; and ensures compliance with company policies, laws and regulations, and best practices.
• Ensures a well-rounded team through cross-training; develops direct reports by offering challenging assignments and discussing growth opportunities.
• Ensures proper direction and communications necessary to sustain a smooth build process.
• Review work orders to identify potential issues to avoid production delays.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the Production floor.
• Works safely by following all safety policies and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensures employees are held to a high expectation of safety.
• Ensures that the finished product meets quality expectations. Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of “good enough is never good enough.”
• Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Welding or tech school is desired but not required.
• Mig and Tig aluminum welding and fabrication experience desired.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Five or more years of supervisory experience is desired.
• Solid print reading skills.
• Reasonable computer skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in a shop floor environment 90% of the time.

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6 am- 4:30 pm, Friday as needed, OT as needed.
